Queen Opens Abbotsford House

Queen Elizabeth II officially reopened Abbotsford House, the former home of the world's first best-selling author, Sir Walter Scott, last July 3. The house is located near Melrose, in the Scottish Borders. Abbotsford House has been under restoration for two years. The cost of restoring it back to its most splendid image cost a staggering £12m . Sir Walter Scott's most immortal works include Waverley, Rob Roy and Ivanhoe.
