Then-Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip in Malta, 1949. |
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip are schedule to visit Malta this November for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Valletta, the island-nation's capital.
It was in Malta where the Queen and Prince Philip spent the first years of their married life, where the prince, then an officer at the Royal Navy, was stationed. The couple got a taste of normal life shortly before Queen Elizabeth's accession to the throne in 1952.
Queen Elizabeth II begged off from attending last year's meeting in Sri Lanka due to the lenghty travel. Prince Charles, who represented her in Sri Lank, will also be present in Malta together with the Duchess of Cornwall.
