Remembering Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation


On June 2, 1953, Queen Elizabeth II was crowned Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It was a solemn occasion, steeped with pomp, circumstance and tradition with history that dates back to hundreds of years. Despite the damp weather, thousands turned out on the streets to celebrate the crowning of the new British sovereign and usher in  a new era in British history. It was a well-watched affair, as 10.4 million people tuned-in in their homes while and 1.5 million watched in public places like pubs and cinemas.
