Prince William has delivered an emotionally stirring “good luck” message to Homeless World Cup footballers as teams from around the world convened in Glasgow for this year's event.
“This competition is a celebration of all that they have
achieved so far, using football as a means to get back into a more stable life,”
the Duke of Cambridge told the players.
“I hope you will join me in extending a very warm welcome to
all 52 countries who are competing in this year's event. Good luck to you all.”
There were over 50 international teams who joined the 14th
annual tournament which. Aside from the duke, Nicola Sturgeon also welcomed the
players.
The tournament is organized by the Homeless World Cup
Foundation, a nonprofit which supports and inspired homeless people through
sports.
