Queen Elizabeth II has been using this $9 nail polish since the 1980s

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip

There’s no question to the impeccable taste of Queen Elizabeth II. From dog breeds and chocolate cakes to handbags, the Queen knows what she likes—and what she likes always manifests a touch of class. That extends even to beauty products.

Queen Elizabeth II is said to wear only one kind of nail polish, a shade of pink from Essie called Ballet Slippers, beloved by royals and commoners alike.

According to Essie, Queen Elizabeth II has been using this nail polish ever since 1989. It is believed that her hairdresser had sent a letter to the company, asking a bottle that "Her Majesty could only wear." Ballet Slipper offers the hue perfect to the subtle taste of Her Majesty. It matches whatever ensemble she wears, whether it's the boldest or the lightest. It's also soft enough not to show through her white gloves. More importantly, it doesn't go out of fad. Today, even other royals,  like the Duchess of Cambridge, have also taken a liking on Essie's nail polish.
