As coronavirus grips UK, Princess Beatrice cancels wedding plans

Princess Beatrice of York was forced to cancel her wedding this May as coronavirus grips the United Kingdom.

The princess is reported to be “very sad” about this decision. She was due to marry Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on May 29, with Queen Elizabeth II hosting their reception at Buckingham Palace.

At first, the couple decided to cancel their reception following government advice and also to avoid "unnecessary risks" as explained by a spokesperson.

However, realizing that there was "no alternative" at all they decided to postpone their wedding until next year for the safety of everyone concerned.

The Royal Household has made drastic measures to keep Queen Elizabeth II safe over growing concerns following the deadly outbreak of coronavirus, including cancelling upcoming events that the much-anticipated Buckingham Palace garden parties.  The wedding is the latest royal event to be cancelled as the Queen was also moved to Windsor Castle where she would remain for an extended period.
