Highlights of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Weekend celebrations

What a spectacular celebration, indeed! The Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend celebrations was a stunning success - a fitting tribute to seventy years of relentless service to the nation by the one and only Queen Elizabeth II. Here are the highlights of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend.

Day 1 (June 2)

The day started with the Trooping the Colour ceremony. We've seen Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all shared a carriage for their first-ever ride at Trooping the Colour and we just loved it! The Duchess of Cambridge was charming and seeing the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester join the carriage ride is heartwarming.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also made it! They joined the other royals in watching the salute to The Queen from a prime vantage point from the Duke of Wellington’s former office, overlooking Horse Guards Parade.

The Queen was accompanied by her cousin, The Duke of Kent, Colonel of the Scots Guards, as she made her first appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to greet the thousands of crowd gathered outside the royal residence. For the first time in her reign, she took a special Trooping the Colour salute from the palace balcony.  She was later joined by the working members of the British Royal Family: The Duke & Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Alexandra, The Duke of Kent,  Princess Anne (with husband Sir Timothy Laurence), Prince Charles & The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge (with their children Prince Louise, Princess Charlotte, Prince George), The Earl and The Countess of Wessex (with Viscount Severn & Lady Louise).

A huge number people gathered outside Buckingham Palace and on The Mall for the Platinum Jubilee and the Royal Family's balcony appearance.

To cap the first day of the Platinum Jubilee weekend celebrations, The Queen and Prince William led the dual beacon lighting ceremonies with Prince William.  The Queen led the lighting of the Principal Platinum Jubilee Beacon from Windsor Castle, while Prince William represented her at Buckingham Palace, where the beacon was officially lit.

Day 2 (June 3)

A Service of Thanksgiving for The Queen’s reign was held at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Great Paul, the largest church bell in the country, was rung for the Service. Over 400 people were invited to attend the service as a way of recognising their contribution to public life at both a community and national level. Representatives from the NHS, key workers, teaching staff and the Armed Forces, as well as charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups, across the four nations of the United Kingdom were invited to the service. While The Queen missed the service, The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children, and other members of the British Royal Family attended the service.

Princess Anne joined Jubilee celebrations in Edinburgh, where she met members of the public celebrating the Jubilee at Edinburgh Zoo - as well as feeding some feathered friends - and visited HMS Albion.

Day 3 (June 4)

Members of the Royal Family attended the Derby at Epsom Downs. The Queen, who could not attend the Derby personally, sent Princess Anne to lead the festivities. She was  joined by her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, and her two children – Peter Phillips & Zara Tindall, with Mike Tindall also there.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex flew to Northern Ireland, where they joined the Platinum Jubilee festivities.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, meanwhile, took the whole family to Wales, where they took part in yet another batch of celebrations.
