King Peter II comes home after 72 years

The Royal Family of Serbia rejoices now that the remains of King Peter II will finally come home. In a press statement published on the Royal Family’s website, Crown Prince Alexander said of it as a very “moving event of great historical importance for the people of Serbia.”

His Majesty’s remains will be interred at the royal vault in Oplenac, although it will be laid for the meantime at the Royal Chapel in Dedinje Belgrade. In her blog, Marlene Eilers Koenig reveals that the remains will be brought home from Illinois on January 22. The Crown Prince thanked President Tomislav Nikolic and other officials of the Serbian government for their “wonderful support and advice.
