Queen Mary’s Royal Menu

What did Queen Mary serve her guests? In The Advertiser of Adelaide, Australia, the April 30, 1930 issue published this list of foods that the queen fed royals and dignitaries who come to dine with her and the King at Buckingham Palace. Meals usually comprised of consomme, whitebait, chicken, iced pudding and savoury.

“It shows that you can live like a king At very little cost and with due regard to your digestion also,” the article writes. While King George V’s “digestion” was one that needed serious consideration, the Queen, the article continues, “is one of those fortunate mortals who can cat almost anything.” After all, it’s always good to be the Queen!
