Queen Elizabeth II reunites with Royal Family in Windsor Castle

Just a few days before Christmas, Queen Elizabeth II reunites with her family at Windsor Castle. The 94-year-old sovereign moved from Balmoral to her Berkshire residence where she now spends isolation with the 99-year-old Prince Philip amidst the COVID-19 restrictions.
For the first time since 1988, the queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will spend Christmas at Windsor Castle and not Sandringham, where the Royal Family traditionally gathers for the holidays.
The queen made a rare public appearance at the castle grounds lately as she welcomed members for her family for a brief visit. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stopped by Windsor Castle amidst their royal train tour of England, Scotland and Wales. Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne and the Earl and Countess of Wessex also travelled to visit the queen, where they posed together while observing physical distancing. Noticeably, Prince Andrew and Prince Philip did not join the family for this brief gathering.
They were serenaded by the Salvation Army Band and Choir, after which the royals all paid tribute to local volunteers and key workers from organizations and charities in Berkshire, many of whom will be on service to other during Christmas. The Queen extended her gratitude to the Salvation Army for its tireless work during the pandemic.
Christmas meant a busy round of engagements for the queen. She usually hosts a pre-Christmas dinner for the extended members of the British Royal Family before moving to Sandringham where the stays until after New Year. However, all these plants will have to be set aside due to COVID-19 outbreak.
