Christmas at Windsor Castle and the Palace of the Holyroodhouse

The Royal Collection Trust’s Facebook page recently shared photographs of Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse all decorated for Christmas. A 20-foot-high Norway spruce tree, sourced from Windsor Great Park, graces a prominent spot in St. George's Hall, the most spacious room in Windsor castle. About 3,000 lights and hundreds of iridescent ornaments were used to decorate the tree.

At the Palace of the Hollyrood House in Scotland, a 15-foot high Christmas tree shimmers in the Great Gallery. The Great Stair leading to the historic State Apartments is also draped with twinkling velvet garlands, glistening berries and seasonal foliage.

Christmas decorations at both Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse are now on display and open to the public.  A special free digital event will livestream on YouTube on December 14. Explore royal festive celebrations and traditions from across the centuries with curators of the Royal Collection in this special seasonal event. You could check more Christmas programs and activities in Windsor Castle and the Palace of the Holyroodhouse on the Royal Collection Trust’s website or Facebook page
