In a stirring message to children lost their parents in the coronavirus pandemic, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex , shared the pain he had to endure after the death of his mother, Princess Diana.

The 37-year-old royal composed a note for the foreword to a new book dedicated to the bereaved children of Britain's NHS heroes.

According to the prince, his mother’s tragic death in 1997 when he was just 12 years old had left "a huge hole inside of me." However,  that emptiness was eventually filled with "love and support", according to The Times.

The book, Hospital by the Hill, tells the story of a young person whose mother died working on the front line at a hospital during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The book is written by Chris Connaughton and illustrated by Fay Troote,  and is being distributed to bereaved children in time for the National Day of Reflection, a government initiative to mark the anniversary of the start of lockdown.
