Expressionist artist Stephen B. Whatley has released a new portrait of Queen Elizabeth II ahead of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. In his tweet, Whatley explained that his new painting was "inspired by The Queen’s recent joy at Windsor Horse Show pageant & my meeting HM in 2004."
"I wanted to celebrate Her Majesty, to capture her humility and sparkle; the delight that came from watching her horses parade..." Whatley said.
The artist is known for his royal commissions, the most famous of which was by Historic Royal Palaces and The Pool of London Partnership to create a series of 30 paintings to celebrate and promote Her Majesty’s Tower of London and The Pool of London, a permanent art exhibit outside Tower Hill Tube station since 2001.
Now, what do you think of this portrait?
