One day, Queen Mary and her younger son Prince George, were strolling in the woods together with her lady-in-waiting. While deep in their walk, the trio met an old Scottish woman. She was bent almost double under a heavy load of wood. She appealed to the Queen for assistance. Smilingly the latter told her son to lend a hand. So they trudged along, the old woman and Prince George carrying the bundle between them. Every now and then the former would dart a glance at the elder lady's face. At last she could stand it no longer.
“You know, madam,” she said, “you look extraordinarily like the Queen.”
At this the lady-in-waiting burst out laughing.
“It is the Queen,” she told the astonished Scottish body, “and that is Prince George helping you carry the sticks.”
