May 13 - Prince Carl Philip of Sweden celebrates his 35th birthday. He is the second child and only son of King Carl XVI Gustaf and the former Silvia Somerlath. He was christened Carl Philip Edmund Bertil. On January 1, 1980, with the change of succession law from male primogeniture to absolute primogeniture, Prince Carl ceased to be the Crown Prince of Sweden and first in line to the throne, a position now held by her elder sister, Crown Princess Viktoria. Still, he is third in line next to her sister and niece Princess Estelle.

May 14 - King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia turns 61. Born in Phnom Penh, he is the eldest son of King Norodom Sihanouk and his second wife,  Norodom Monineath Sihanouk. He served as Cambodia's ambassador to the UNESCO and was proclaimed king by a nine-member council after his father abdicated in 2004.

May 14 - King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary. Their marriage was celebrated at the Catholic Cathedral of Saint Dennis and at the Metropolitan Orthodox Cathedral of the Virgin Mary, both in Athens. The couple were both descended from Queen Victoria of Great Britain. King Juan Carlos is the fourth and youngest child and the only son of Juan Carlos, Count of Barcelona, third surviving son of King Alfonso XIII of Spain and the former Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, youngest child and only daughter of Princess Beatrice of the United Kingdom and Prince Henry of Battenberg. Princess Beatrice was the youngest child of Queen Victoria. Juan Carlos' mother was Princess Maria Mercedes of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, daughter of Prince Carlos of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Infante of Spain, a grandson of King Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies, and his second wife, Princess Louise of Orléans, daughter of Prince Philippe, Count of Paris, claimant to the throne of France. Meanwhile, Queen Sofia is the eldest daughter and child of King Paul of Greece and of Princess Frederica of Hanover. Sofia's brother is the former King of the Hellenes, Constantine II.

May 14 - Crown Prince Frederik and the former Mary Donaldson celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. The couple were married at the Church of Our Lady in Denmark. The Crown Prince is the eldest son and heir of Queen Margrethe II and of Prince Consort Henrik, Count of Monpezat. Meanwhile, Crown Princess Mary, who hails from Hobart, Australia, is the youngest child of  John Dalgleish Donaldson, a mathematics professor, and  his first wife, Henrietta (née Horne). Both are Scottish.

May 15 - Twin royals, Prince Jean and Princess Margaretha of Luxembourg celebrate their 57th birthday. They were the children of Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg.

May 15 - Zara Anne Phillips, second child and only daughter of Anne, Princess Royal, only daughter of Queen Elizabeth, turns 33. A champion equestrienne, she married ex-England rugby union player Mike Tindall.

May 16 - Prince Maximilian Nikolaus Maria of Liechtenstein celebrates his 45th birthday. He is the second son of Prince Hand-Adam II and Princess Marie. In a civil ceremony, he tied the know with the former Angela Gisela Brown. They have one child, Prince Alfons.

May 17 - Queen Maxima of the Netherlands celebrates her 43th birthday. Born Máxima Zorreguieta y Cerruti, the queen is the daughter of  Jorge Zorreguieta and his second wife, María del Carmen Cerruti y Carricart. She was granted Dutch citizenship in 2001 (she enjoys dual citizenship) before their marriage in 2002. The couple has three daughters, the Princess of Orange, Catharine Amalia, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane.
